Comicbrush Community Guidelines

The following common-sense Community Guidelines are here to help you get the best out Comicbrush and, importantly, keep you out of trouble. Don’t forget that your use of Comicbrush is subject to these Guidelines and our Terms of Service.

Note: these Guidelines may be subject to revision as and when the site develops.

1. Can I use photos from around the Web?
Feel free to upload content that you have created or own or have licensed but, please, do not freeload or use photos collected from around the web without the written permission of the rights owner.
2. Can I use photos that have been scanned or photocopied from a book, magazine or newspaper?
As a rule, don’t upload anything that isn’t already yours – or if you do, be sure to get the owner’s written permission first. Some image owners charge for this permission, but others will not grant it under any circumstances.
3. Are there any people or issues that I should avoid or which are just plain out of bounds?
As a community site, we place the utmost importance on the safety of our users and will not permit images that are calculated to (or which we think are likely to) stir up hate or demean another group or individual because of the their race or ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation or gender, disability or age, or which may be unlawful. Neither do we allow pornography, sexually explicit content or any images depicting child exploitation or abuse.
If need be, we will take further action on any complaints we receive about unlawful images, which may include reporting you to the appropriate authority.
5. What will happen if someone objects to my work?
If someone objects to your work and logs a complaint, we’ll look into it and see if it appears credible. If we think it’s a valid complaint, you’ll receive a warning asking you to take down the work. If you fail to comply with the warning you will be sent a second warning, after which you risk having your account terminated.
In some cases, we may not be able to determine whether a complaint is valid. If so, we reserve the right to take down any material which is subject to a complaint, irrespective of whether or not it finally turns out to be credible or valid.
6. What can I do if I find someone else’s comic objectionable or offensive?
If you don’t like someone else’s work, you can either click away or you can report it by clicking on the “Report Abuse” button.
7. Can I use my own artwork?
Yup, absolutely – just upload it as you would a photo.
8. Can I download a comic?
Not directly, but you are free to email any of your own comics to friends.
9. Can I use ComicBrush for commercial purposes?
No, Comicbrush is for personal use only. If you want to sell or commercialise your work, we have a companion site, Clickwheel, that is dedicated to doing just that. For more details, contact Tim Demeter at: tim@comicbrush.com
